I am a Principal Scientist & Research Group Leader: Coastal Systems – Natural Resources and the Environment business unit of the CSIR. As Principal Scientist I apply for and manage research projects in the field of integrated coastal management, coastal governance, institutional assessment, socio-ecology. I am currently Primary Investigator in several larger national and international projects.
I am one of the Primary Investigators of the project and I am based in Norwich, United Kingdom. My role is to facilitate the scientific process and quality of the EKLA project.
Dr. Ruby Moothien Pillay worked as Scientific Officer in the Marine Ecology and Marine Sciences Division of the Ministry Of Fisheries in the early 1990s before joining the Mauritius Oceanography Institute in 2001. She is presently the Principal Research Scientist in the Biological Oceanography Department of the Institute.
I am a PhD candidate working on aspects of the role of leadership in Local Authorities and their ability to use Integrated Coastal Management as a mechanism for climate change adaptation and the building of local community resilience.
I am the Project Coordinator who manages all logistics and administrative aspects of the EKLA project. I am based at the CSIR in Durban, South Africa.
